Opinion: No Electoral Mandate for Barack Obama?

This article, entitled "Opinion: No Electoral Mandate for Barack Obama?" talks about how the 2008 election was an obvious win for the Democrats, but doesn't necessarily mean it was an electoral mandate. In any case, it was more of a mandate for "hope" and "change" than it was for Barack Obama himself.

    The article is interesting in that it indicates that this is the biggest popular vote lead for the Democrats since Lyndon Johnson in 64. Some states that were red had turned blue or purple due to the policies that were drastically needing attention. Democrats are seen to overcome economic situations better than Republicans by many, just as Republicans are seen to overcome national defense issues better than Democrats by many....Who knows if this will indeed happen - What we do know is that the citizens wanted change from what we had (a Republican), and we now have a Democrat in office.
